Lab Testing

Our team of sports scientists can monitor your training programme and accurately assess your training zones for each training phase.

Our laboratory-based tests include:

  • Body composition and anthropometry – Monitoring your ideal lean body mass to match your event and sport.
  • Submaximal fitness test – Throughout the test your heart rate, blood lactate and oxygen uptake is monitored to determine your economy and efficiency.

This can complement the work from your conditioning programme to ensure that your economy is maximised for your event.

Maximal fitness test – Will determine your maximal oxygen uptake (VO2 max) Heart rate and oxygen uptake during exercise are monitored and measures of maximal oxygen uptake and maximal heart rate are obtained. For tests carried out on the treadmill, speed at VO2 max is also obtained. This is a measure that is closely related to endurance performance, and is a key speed to train at for improving VO2 max and increasing running speed at VO2 max.  For tests carried out on a cycle ergometer, power put is also measured and maximal power (a parameter used in cycling) can be determined.
